Green technology is technology that promotes obtaining
energy from renewable resources and avoids squandering the non-renewable
resources of the earth. It also promotes technology that does not further
global warming. Examples of non-renewable energy sources which should be
minimized are fossil fuel materials including coal, oil, and natural gas.
Examples of renewable energy sources are wind, solar, and flowing water. Global
warming is due to manmade emission of gases into the atmosphere that trap heat
in the atmosphere preventing that heat from rising away from the earth, thus
warming the earth. If we continue to over-use fossil fuels, we will run out of
those fuels, and the gases produced by burning those fuels will continue to
warm the earth to the point where it will become uninhabitable. Humanity is
approaching the point where we are seeing the beginning of the bad effects of
fossil fuel burning in the form of droughts and brush fires.
